On Monday 01/11/2021, Contra Costa County has confirmed that the State’s limited Stay-at-Home order has been extended indefinitely. Do not worry we will continue with a season even if it is just filled with practices, training & skill development sessions within a stable group of cohorts if fields are available. With that said we have decided to push the start of the season/tryouts to our “Plan D” Schedule. We understand there are many families eager to get back out there and we will, but we have decided to push the season out a few weeks for a few reasons.
- Pushing tryouts/season out will provide the families extra time to sign up for the 2021 season and will provide the league extra time to identify what fields/facilities will be available to us for either our practices & trainings or potential future games.
- We should have more information regarding the rental availability of softball fields on school grounds. 18 of our 22 softball fields used each year reside on school property in Danville & San Ramon. At this point it is uncertain if the use of these fields for practices & trainings will be possible. We will continue to monitor the potential field status updates with both cities.
Our Plan D Schedule for our SRVGAL Stompers Spring league play will have tryouts in March 2021 and practice/trainings beginning in April 2021.
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued an Outdoor and Indoor Youth and Recreational Adult Sports Guidance document on 12/14/2020 that outlines the return to play timelines by each specific sport. It is exciting to see that Softball is one of the sports allowed to return to inter-team competition once back in the substantial Red Tier. (A copy of this CDPH document has been attached to this email).
This specific information about when/who can return to play is fantastic but SRVGAL is still planning for various scenarios as we do not know when the County will return to the Red Tier. With that said should inter-league competition/games not be allowed come April we will continue with our Spring season teams providing them with physical conditioning, practices, skill-building, and training that can be conducted outdoors within stable cohorts as authorized by the state/county and based on field availability. We will continue to work tirelessly to make sure our girls have the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge of the game they love so much.
The new Tryout dates for Red & Blue Division tryouts have been moved to the following dates:
Tryout #1 - Saturday 03/06/201
Tryout #2 - Sunday 03/07/2021
Tryout #3 – Saturday 03/13/2021
Tryout #4 – Sunday 03/14/2021
All players who are registered for the Red & Blue divisions will receive an email with a link to sign up for a specific tryout day & time when we get closer to March 2021.
Please remember that registering your player(s) and registering as a coach or assistant coach is still a free process as we will NOT be requiring payment upfront. The total cost for the 2021 season will depend on if our teams are only conducting practices/trainings or if they are also allowed to play games. This prevents families from having to go through another refund process if the unthinkable happens and we are still shut down through spring. We want you and your girls to be excited about playing softball again and we felt that this was a great first step. Registration fees will remain the same for 2021 and those of you who have a credit from the 2020 season, your credit will carry forward to 2021.

Coach volunteers are a vital part of our program and we thank you for every opportunity you provide to our amazing SRVGAL athletes. We are fortunate to have committed and energetic coaches help us achieve a successful season! If you are interested in coaching, please submit your information through the registration process.
We offer many training platforms to assist new and experienced coaches. We hold an annual COACHES UNIVERSITY training where coaches are trained by an experienced Softball Training Camp director and we provide practice and game support throughout the season.
